Excerpts from Poetry written by Beverly Blaise
POETRY
These words have been gathered overtime. I have picked up the tears of others as well as my own and held it in a capsel. I have examined the contents and realized the pain that man faces. I navigate the road, as I paint the pain with my words, I find that God has given gifts and talents for us to deal in this world. He was present and is present. In the jovial times and in the sad ones.
Can We be Friends?
So we’re sitting and laughing
Getting a little personal
You girls are nice people
I could mess with y’all
Our laughter bounces off the wall as our words feed each other’s energy
By that I mean enthusiasm
This has nothing to do with the universe
That universal language of love
Is something I seem to be missing
They say love is patient and love is kind
But I’m kinda cold
And My patience runs thin....
Silent Nights.
I look at him and see a broken heart
At one point I believed that is what he would need if he had any chance to live
Now I grieve that it was Me
My words flew out the depths of my heart from the cage where he was held hostage
My words took a hold of him and beat him to a pulp
Where else would these words go?
They have been waiting for so long
In the faulty perception and prison of silence
I have made a clean living space for them
Making excuses, as they held me hand in hand to turn him into an enemy
Before I knew it, I was their best weapon to finish him- yet he can not be finished
But I stand before the shattered glass of my doing
What broke? His heart, our shield, our comfort in chaos.
Now I wonder if I could ever undo what I’ve done
Should it be undone?
church Folks.
Old folks curl up empty due to lack of knowledge just like kids doe
For away and empty with the same I don’t know Godish disease
Floating into space
Vainly moving
Religious activities got you moving like a puppet
Only this time the devil pulling the strings
This what hell looks like, aimless floating bodies
These are lifeless souls
Descending under the influence of amnesia
That of the world and the influences that be
Many souls will perish
The church is in slumber
We were called to rule
But the devil stole the Spector
And now uses it to break our necks
Bent back over in sin and iniquity
Even when the king came and gave it back
We still refuse to walk in who we’re supposed to be
Old folks curl up empty due to lack of knowledge just like kids doe
Goodbye to Day.
When you lose a child you start to think
What could u have done differently to save that child
How could you have shielded them from the danger that gripped their life out of existence
How could you have better prepared them
How was your last goodbye?
If you knew that was your last time saying goodbye,
Maybe you would have propped yourself up in that chair
Maybe you would have looked them in the eye
And said goodbye.
No one ever knows when it’s time to say goodbye
Whenever my time comes,
If I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye,
Goodbye.
Know that I’m alright. When you get past this road of pain, sunshine awaits on the other side
Where Christ is the sun that never fails to shine
When pain and suffering can never reach his chosen people
Do me a favor and seek him
I wouldn’t want you to die twice
Whatever pain I went through, I’ll only go thru it once
And then I’ll find joy in Christ on the other side...
Am I Crazy?
Emotional Dependency Is
The muffled tears into your palms
The ticking time boom in your chest
The inability to rest
Eyes opened, shut to reality
Just the videotape of what you thought it to be
When you can’t even trust your own thoughts and reasoning
When your own line of reasoning paints a dark shadow over every motive and word said
When perception engraves the false truth that no one is trustworthy and everyone is out to get you
It’s paranoia that can morph into codependency
You sleep restlessly
You toss and turn
You weep and burn at the thought that you are not needed nor wanted
You need to be wanted...
