How Many Years Do I Have?

We all have a set time and a purpose. What will you do with yours?

Genealogies

Many times when I come across a genealogy in the bible, much like others I become discouraged to read them. I think to myself, what can I possibly get from reading a genealogy? I even black out at times when reading them, however, the word of God has a way of piercing the heart and bringing forth revelation in the most unexpected ways.

Many times when I come across a genealogy in the Bible, I black out.

Today as I read the genealogy found in Genesis 5, something dawned on me as I paid attention to the ages of the people from Adam’s line to Noah’s. I just started a bible reading plan in which I plan to finish reading the Old and New Testaments in one year, if it be God’s will and if I remain vigilant. I even thought to get my mother in on it, I think it's quite awesome. As the year is beginning, I want to be intentional about what I am doing. In other words, I want to be disciplined and consistent. In order to do that I have practically set up routines and disciplines, one of which is to read that devotional.

A Set Time & a Purpose

All of the people listed from Adam’s line to Noah’s had a set amount of years to live, this was already predetermined by the divine counsel of God. They just didn't know of it. Now the same is with us, we all have a predestined amount of years that we are destined to live in this earth, we just don't know the amount. I stared at the 895 years from verse 17 and could not help but remove the 5, will it be 89 years? Who knows when God will command my soul out of the earth, until then what will I do? I mean what have I done? If indeed I will only have 89 short years to live, is that enough time to make a grand impact? - or perhaps those are my carnal thoughts speaking.

Stun Your Readers

Choices form our destinies.

I still can't help but think, as I enter into my 25th year, what have I done? What will I do? How many years will I have and how will I make them count? We all have choices to make here on this earth and those choices form our destinies. I find that we either partner with God or we end up partnering with the devil to either make or break our destinies. So how many years do you have? And what are you doing with them? What value will you bring with them? What will you have left behind? You only live once and your life has meaning, its never too late to start making it count for the kingdom.

Simply, Bev.
